My First Model:
Although i am attending Newcastle University, I did attend another place of study before making the decision to transfer. I originally studied at Teeside University and although this wasn't the place for me, I did create some work that i was proud of. For my first ever 3D project i was told to create something of historic value. Considering this was my first 3D project and i was a beginner at the time, this was very challenging however after endless hours of studying both Zbrush, Maya and 3D coat i eventually created something that i could say i was proud of. For the project, I decided to create a gladiator helmet. This took along time to make as it went through various iterations before it eventually took this form. The process however was quite simple. I created the base model within Maya, in which i then exported the OBJ and imported it into Zbrush. From here i added dents and scratches to make the helmet look battle damaged, as well as some patterns to add some extra detail to the helmet. From here i needed to decimate the object, this means i need to try minimise the amount of polys in the object to save render time, once i was happy i then re exported and then imported the model into 3D Coat to texture the helmet. I simply painted the model silver and added gold blemishes, once i was happy i needed to export the texture maps to be imported into Maya along with the model. Once i was back in Maya i simply linked the textures to the model using the hyper shade, once everything was linked up i created some studio lighting and rendered the image within render man. I used two typed of lighting, and although this was a very challenging project, and the model certainly wasn't the best, i was very happy with the result.
Like I said it isn't the best, you can see lots of inaccuracies and mistakes, but this was my first model I ever created, and im proud to show it.
