Experimental animation - Research, Part 2

Stuffed  Stuffed is an animation that was just recently realized by Supinfocom Rubika. It already has won a number of rewords. it's a fantastic animation that is beautifully styled and the 3D models and how they are all textured are fantastic. I wouldn't even know how to start in creating something that detailed but I want to try in this unit! textures aren't something I mess around with and I want to try and make a character or object with fabric textures.  Another thing that really inspired me is the fire in the animation, how its 2D shapes in a stunning 3D animation give it an amazing contrast. not only does it look great but it just works so well with that ascetic of the animation and I really like how it looks.  I want to try and animate fire like this myself as a little experimentation and maybe even to 2, one in a 3D software and on a frame by frame 2D animation and see how they compare.

Live Brief: Mary Poppins Pantomime

Today i was given an amazing opportunity to work on a live brief for the college. My tutor offered this to me as I do a lot of work within 3D software and it seemed that what they needed. Every year, the college staff hold there own pantomime for the other members of staff around the college. This years theme was Mary Poppins. My tutor (who also used 3D software) was asked to create an end title sequence that shows the carnival that is shown in the end of 'Mary Poppins Returns.' However, my tutor passed this task down to me as he thought it would be a good learning experience. I need to do my best I can for this live brief as I do not want to let anyone down. In future posts I will include updates on the progress of this live brief, i only have a few weeks to create this carnival in 3D. That may seem like a lot of time but I also have my University brief to work on too, so its certainly going to be a busy few weeks.

ProCreate Animation Tools Experiment 2 (UNFINISHED):

This is going to be short post as there is not much to say about this design. This is a design that i created that was inspired from a YouTube tutorial called 'Sumit Digital Art.' The premise of the design was an environment switching from light an day, and the animation that shows this transition is presented as a light switch. Each environment is created within a capsule, in which then the switch passes the design and switches it from daytime to nighttime. I adored this idea and it was an experiment that I wanted to try with my own twist on it. My version of this would be under the sea. Sadly, although I did design the two environments I never animated them. This is simply because i moved on to another idea. Although i am disappointing in myself for not finishing them, the whole point of this brief is to experiment so i am trying to create as many different ideas that I can within the briefs time frame. Although these designs are unfinished they will still be included in my w...

Animation Update inside Procreate:

This is my first experimental piece that i have created for this project, there is a few that i started before Christmas however i have put those experiments on the back burner for now. The reason for this is because the animation tools within Procreate have just been released! This is an aspect of Procreate that i have always wanted. I love being able to draw on my Ipad however switching between PC to animate can get tedious. Sometimes I just want to sit down and do it all on my Ipad and this update that has just come to Procreate allows me to do just that. Although the tools evolve just around onion skinning and frame by frame animation, this opens up a new range of different experiments that I could create for this project. This is the first experiment that I tried. I wanted to create something that related to the Ipad but also try a different form of animation that I had never used before. The idea was to have an ordinary pencil and morph it into an Apple pencil using the new featu...

Experimental animation - Research, Part 1

Transformation/ morthin Animation  I have always liked this style of animation where objects tun into something else and it's always interesting to see the frames in between and see how they have created it. I want to try it out in this project as I feel like the freedom of this technique will help me get into 2D for this project as I have stated before it can be off-putting to me.

Experimental Animation (New Brief)

Hi everyone im back! This week we got introduced to our new brief, experimental animation. This brief allows me and the rest of the class to explore new areas of animations that are currently trending, such as VR, AR and working within 3D software. However, even though these are the recommended topics to explore, the brief is open for interpretation, it was made clear by the tutors that it s up to us what we want to explore. I knew from the start that i wanted to avoid the topics that were given, as they can all relate back to 3D. Although i would love o create 3D work, i want to try push myself further. Therefore i will be looking into trends that stem from the 2D world of animation. Over the next few weeks you will see various sources of research that i have looked into and hopefully some early experiments that I may have started. One of my tutors works with Riso printing and has even given us the chance to use the printer to create a few frames of 2D animation. Considering this ...
