Christmas Break:

In a few days i will be breaking up for the Christmas holiday, and although I will continuing my project work, I will probably not be updating my blog until I return. However, hopefully when i do return i will have lots of things to present. Its been a stressful few weeks trying to get this live brief complete so im going to allow myself to take some time off. Ill be back in a few weeks, but until then i hope you all have a merry Christmas and a Happy New year!!!!

Live Brief: Mary Poppins Pantomime (FINISHED)

Hi everyone, this week i was finally able to finish my live brief, a few days ago sent of my scene for my tutor to render it in Octane, and the results were phenomenal. I couldn't believe how good it looked when my tutor showed me the results. When we took it down to the performance academy and showed the client (other members of staff) the reaction was overwhelming, they all loved it and even gave me a round of applause for creating it. I couldn't believe what was happening at the time, I am a shy person naturally so getting been given a round applause made my whole face whole read, luckily for me I was in the projection room screening the scene so they couldn't see me...I think. Additionally, me and my tutor where also allowed to present our work to them via a screening, we sat in the projection room, and projected it to a screen that was about 15 times the size of me, and I am six foot tall. The reaction that they had towards the scene was overwhelming and ill never forg...

ProCreate Explosion Experiment 3 (FINISHED):

If I am being completely honest, I do not like this experiment. I enjoyed creating it but I am definitely not happy with the end result. The idea of the animation was to create an explosion effect within Procreate using the newly added onion skinning tools. The explosion consists of around 12 frames and although the animation looks...Ok, unfortunately the idea is not an original one, i found the frame sheet online and I wanted to see how it look within Procreate, so although it hasn't been done in Procreate (maybe it has but I do not know) it has been done before. Nevertheless, it was fun creating this experiment, but this will just be a test within my project work. At this point during my work I want to start working towards my final experiment and i want this one to be a big one. We were recently given the opportunity to print a few frames on our tutors risograph printer. Printing these frames off will allow people to take some pictures of there frames and create a small anim...

Experimental Animation - Research, Part 4

90's Style Growing up Disney movies were always on the TV and I always loved movies like Robin Hood and Bedknobs and Broomsticks. the old fashioned humor and style next get old and I would really like to create an animation like this with the exaggerated body language and of course animals. It's still a big hit to his day having animal characters doing human actions and I would really like to do something along those lines. After thing a while on what to do I remember a scene from the Aristocats where the dogs end up on the motorbike. its something I would laugh at all time and its made me decide that I want to create an animation of an animal driving a old fashioned car, with a little scarf and goggles.

Live Brief: Mary Poppins Pantomime (QUICK UPDATE) 2

Hi everyone, this post is going to be a little smaller than my usual posts as I have a lot to do. I am currently working on both my live brief and my University brief, so the last few weeks have been very busy. I am quickly approaching the deadline for my Live brief and theirs still a few more assets that need to build before I send it off to my tutor to be rendered. As you can see below I have made significant progress with the scene, I just need to add a few more textures and assets. I cannot wait to finish this scene so I can finally see how it will look rendered. This brief so far has kept me on my toes, and I love that, this may be the closest brief I have this year that represents an industry standard brief. The short deadline is certainly testing my skills to create assets at a quick and decent rate. I just hope I can withhold this workflow and hand-in the scene on time.

Procreate experiment, Fox

As I discussed in my research I wanted to create a fox drawing his car in a 1900's animation style. unfortunately, I didn't get to animate to let and I have been giving a live brief so I might have to leave this one on the back burner its something I want to revisit this as I liked the idea and the design was coming along nicely.

Experimental animation - Research, Part 3

Water mood board With the recent release of the pro-create animation feature, I have been looking into a lot of animations that creators are making. It has really inspired me and I want to create my own procreate frame by frame animations  I started to plan what I wanted to animate and I decided to create an ocean animation so I can experiment with the flow of the seaweed, bobbles, fish, and also experiment with lighting. I wanted something a bit more free and the flow of the ocean would be perfect for this.  So, I was thinking os the layout be contained in a shape. I really like the drawing done of the airplane windows and how much they use the negative space. maybe so it looks like its all in the window of a submarine?   I also wanted to actual the ocean floor so I can get some plans in the scene and after looking at this as an example of that I am looking forward to experimenting with the lighting as the way the sun rays travel through the wat...

Live Brief: Mary Poppins Pantomime (UPDATE)

So far the live brief is going incredibly well, i have begun designing each asset for the scene. So far I have been able to build Shuggy boats, outdoor benches, streetlights and carnival tents. Every asset that I have built so far has been built within Maya, however i do intend to move these assets over to Cinema 4D as my tutor has informed me that rendering with Octane will produce the better result. Octane is a plugin render for Cinema 4D and has been a plugin that I have wanted to try for a while as it specializes in creating sci-fi related scene. As I continue to progress with this live brief I will be sure to keep you all updated, there is still a lot of modelling, texturing and rendering to be done before im finished as I am still very much in the early stages of the brief. Below are a few of the assets that I have created and hopefully in the next few days i will have more to show you.
