Risograph Printing the Ink Pot:

Well everyone, its been a super busy few weeks but I am almost done. Yesterday i was able to bring my ink pot frames and hand them over to my tutor to print. Unfortunately I do not have any images to show you just yet as they are currently in the hands of my tutor, but as soon as i have them I will update the post. It was an amazing day! I was able to witness how these printers work, and they are truly remarkable. Considering the Riso printer only prints a selection of colors, the artwork that you can produce using the select limit of colors is remarkable. In my last post I ended by saying that I needed to choose a new color pallet for Ink pot, I decided to go with pink and yellow as when these colors overlay they will produce an orange and I think for my design that will have a unique and interesting aesthetic. Next week is my hand in for the project so I may not have any posts until then as i need to wrap up the last sections of my work. But until then I hope you enjoy the new color ...

Experimental Animation - Research, Part 8

Monnoprint As I was looking into clours we were told by the riso studio Monnoprint of the colour that was available. Thankfully the colours I wanted where they but we where limited to 2 colours so I had to change the design from black outlines to white https://www.instagram.com/monnoprint/

Ink Pot Walk Cycle:

Well it took a while but the walk cycle is completely finished. This was a very tedious but rewarding task. I spent a long time trying to perfect this walk. Every small change that I made just made the cycle worse, therefore every change i made would have to be changed again on the next frame. I would be lying if i said that this process didn't annoy me. But like I said, I was very happy with the results. The next step is simply to convert the animation into a video, this is very easy to do in Procreate so it wont be a problem. However, when it comes to printing my frames on the riso printer i do not want my design to be black and white. Although these are his default colors i believe that i would be wasting the potential that the riso printer has to offer. At this point I just need to find a color pallet that would look good with my design. During my research i found multiple riso made art pieces that have stunning color pallets so i am going to relate back to my research to find ...

Experimental Animation - Research, Part 7

Rizo After I started animating the inkpot I got the opportunity to pint all the frames as a Rizo graph. this meant I would have to change my colours so I started to research into Rizo prints and the common colours  I started to see a theme with pink and I really liked how the pink and yellow looks so I might experiment there first and see how it looks.

Ink Pot Character (Small Update)

Hi everyone, this is just a really quick update showing you some of the design changes that i made to my inkpot. Whilst I began creating the walk cycle i notices that whilst animating the legs there was some issues trying to keep the smooth design of the legs. This is because I needed redraw the legs multiple times within the walk cycle and i simply could not keep the design consistence. This caused the animations to look janky and cheap. Aswell as changing the designs of the legs you can also see that there is some small changes to the overall design. This was suggested to me by my tutor and due to there experience in the industry, it was wise to listen to there feedback. I hope you all like the changes that I made!

Experimental Animation - Research, Part 6

New school Animation So after looking at that classic 1920's style I soon started to develop some ideas on where I wanted to go but I also started to look at more modern examples of this style being recreated and relived. I started to look at Cuphead and McBess's artwork and started to get a better sense of what I wanted. but it wasn't until I looked at Lance Inkwell's badge that I decided what I wanted. I love this little coffee pot and even though its a pin I can imagen how it would bounce along with whistling, fling his arms from sie ti side as her twists his boy walking own the street. I got excited about how the liquid would move, how it would curl, and jump out of the op with each step I just new. I had to create it. so I started to create an inkpot design.

Ink Pot Character:

Well everyone...meet Ink Pot. This is my new character that I have decided to make my final experiment for this project. Using this new character design I will be creating a walk cycle using Procreate and using that walk cycle to create Risograph frames. I have a few weeks left on this project so it is going to be incredibly exciting. I finally have my own character that I can use to make endless experiments! Admittedly I was starting to lose passion within this project, every experiment that i created just seemed to go nowhere. However creating this little character was a lot of fun and has renewed my excitement for this project. This design was create purely within Procreate so that whenever I am ready to animate him I can just open up this file and get going. It has been a while since i have simply created a design in Procreate, so this was incredibly refreshing. I also wanted to keep the design simple, this because I can tend to get carried away when i,m drawing and I add way too m...

Experimental Animation - Research, Part 5

Old school Animation  old school animation has been the birth of animation an cartoon. from the good dinosaur, Felix the cat an the impersonal faces. it's still to this day a popular style of animation and something that just doesnt beome outdated. the exaggerated movements, simple designs, and memorable moments that probably scared children for years. I love this style of animation and this is what I want to go for in my final experimentation for this unit.

Im Back!!!

Hey everyone I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year!! I must say i think I utilized this holiday the best way i could, by doing nothing! I have taken a long break but I am ready to get back to work. There was a few bits of development that i began creating before the Christmas break but i never had a chance to finish them due to the Mary Poppins live brief, over the next few days i will be finishing up those designs and presenting to them here but until I hope you all have nice weekend and ill see you in a few days!!!
