Experiment 3 Doom Eternal Fire VFX Shot (FINISHED):

My hand in is now a few days away and I was able to finish my Doom Eternal VFX shot, sorry that I kept you guys in the dark for this shot. It wasn't intentional, I was just very busy trying to get it done. I decided to place myself (as the Doom Slayer) in a burning environment. In this case, it was my living room. Although fire seems easy in terms of VFX, this experiment was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. Although, I wanted to challenge myself, I did not expect this experiment to take so long. When this project began my tutor gave us all his 'VFX asset' folder. This folder contained a series of VFX elements that he gathered over the years, and of course, it included fire. The fire wasn't hard ti implement into the scene, however whilst recording the footage I did not take into account that my body would be blocking the fire. This small mistake caused me a lot of problems. Fire is a forever moving element, therefore creating a mask a mask for fire was no easy task and it took me a long time t figure out. Throughout this experiment I was constantly referring back to a YouTube channel called 'ActionVFX.' This is a another YouTube channel that focuses on educating people about the processes and skills that are used within the VFX industry. I will link the video that I used below. This video consists of showing viewers how to set an environment on fire and how to make your fire look more realistic. This video really helped me get through this experiment as it seemed to find a solution to every problem that I had, as well as add new details that I never had even thought of. I eventually overcame the masking problem within my work by masking the character (me)  instead of the fire. This is a very simple fix and I have no idea why I did not think of it until now, but that's enough of the problems. This experiment was incredibly fun to make and I learned a lot of new techniques whilst creating this piece that I can apply to future projects. Overall I am very proud of this experiment, it was very hard to overcome but I got there and I have a massive sense of relief that I was able to do it. Now that I have finished all the experiments that I wanted to create all that is left to do now is to gather all my resources and compile them into a presentable sketchbook. My hand in is only a few days away, so there wont be any posts until then. I will see you all after hand in and I hope you enjoy my last experiment.

Pixel Art and Zbrush Dragon Progress Update:

Over the past week i have made significant progress throughout both of my chosen subjects, Zbrush and Pixel art. Ad for my pixel art characters, i have decided to create three characters that are all completely different from each other. These three characters will resemble my fire team form the game destiny, Me and my two friends. The character below is my character and you can see that although it is pixel art, it shares no characteristics from the last design, they are all going to be completely different and i cannot wait to see how all three compare to each other once they are finished. As for my dragon, i was able to add a lot more detail to both the horns and face. I even added an additional two horns to bring the character more to life and give him a more interesting silhouette. As you can see the character also has antlers and wisps coming from his chin, this was heavily inspired from Haku the white dragon from the Studio Ghibli movie 'Spirited Away.' Although I te...
